Village Schools of the Bible
Two courses: Everyday Faith Class + Biblical Leadership
Description: Since 1982 Village Schools of the Bible has guided more than 7,000 people through their Bible courses. Last year, South Heights Christian Classes hosted the Village Schools Cover-to-Cover Bible Survey course: a comprehensive, full immersion discipleship study of the Bible where students read the entire Bible in nine months and write reflection papers to let God's truth sink in.
This year (starting fall of 2019), SHCC is hosting two additional Village Schools courses as follows:
Semester 1: Everyday Faith
Semester 2: Biblical Leadership.
The Semester 1 course, Everyday Faith, helps people apply their faith in everyday life. This is a 10-week course taught by Christian leaders in various fields from across the Twin Cities, who share how they live out their faith in their various vocations in the workplace. A range of faith-in-the-workplace topics are covered such as self-management, weathering crises, sharing faith, separation of church and state, and discipleship: in short, topics cover every aspect of staying true to Christian mission in all spheres of life. Students come away with a very practical plan of action for living out their faith more intentionally in everyday life: at home, work or in the community.
The semester 2 course, Biblical Leadership, is a 10-week course that helps students understand the sharp difference between secular models of leadership and Biblical leadership. Principles of Biblical leadership are learned from Old Testament and New Testament examples such as Moses, Nehemiah, Jesus and Paul. Students learn about the work of the Holy Spirit in leadership, Biblical worldview, perils of leadership, evaluation of leadership, leadership style assessment, and leadership in practice. This course is for leaders or those aspiring to leadership (whether inside or outside the four walls of the church building) who desire to model their leadership on the Way, the Truth and the Life of Christ.
Those who experience the Everyday Faith and Biblical Leadership courses are better equipped to apply their faith and lead in at work, at home, and in the community.
